software implementation
Businesses often seek to streamline operations by implementing or upgrading software. Technical, or IT, issues can be just as compelling as financial and other business issues driving companies to move from paper-based systems, spreadsheets and simple databases to a more robust, enterprise-wide software application.

“Software project risks can adversely affect the project cost, schedule, technical success, software quality or project team morale." |
An experienced team with the right skill set, experience, proven methodology and tools can significantly enhance the likelihood of a successful software implementation. Otherwise, people, process and technical limitations can reduce the likelihood of success.

case studies
EHS software implementation, specialty chemicals company
A specialty chemicals company needed a third party to facilitate the software implementation process. After Lexicon Systems completed a business needs analysis, prepared a business case and facilitated software evaluation and selection, we managed an end-to-end implementation at over 25 North American facilities. We worked as a liaison among client EHS, IT and operations, as well as the software vendor. We managed software design, configuration and data migration, training and roll-out. We managed a multi-phased rollout where the first phase provided the infrastructure for subsequent phases. Lexicon also provided significant software design, testing, user documentation and training services throughout the implementation and roll-out.
health & safety software implementation, world-scale chemical company
A chemical company selected commercial health and safety software to replace dozens of spreadsheets, stand-alone databases and other data sources. They wanted to leverage information in an asset database and human resources (HR) systems. Lexicon staff helped the client streamline and standardize their business processes and evaluated legacy systems. We developed implementation plans and facilitated the entire implementation. We also developed training plans, training materials and delivered end-user training.
EHS software implementation, world-scale chemical company
The company selected commercial, enterprise EHS software and identified integration points with process data historians, real-time environmental monitoring equipment, laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and other data sources. Lexicon staff facilitated business needs analysis and produced a Business Requirements Documents. We also prepared a training plan, developed computer-based training materials and conducted instructor-led training to support the implementation.
EHS software implementation, multiple clients
Several clients planned to streamline and enhance their software without adding permanent staff. They required the help of an expert that understood IT, business and EHS issues. Lexicon designed software for consulting firms and independent software providers (ISVs). These design documents provided business rules, software, report and interface specifications for software coding. Working as “translators” between business subject matter experts (SMEs) and IS/IT staff, our staff prepared design documents for software modules and components including, but not limited to
